Can’t help but laugh

So we’ve been doing some serious house hunting over the past two weeks.  We’ve seen so many that I can’t even remember them all!

We managed to find 3 houses we really liked but thanks to the housing wisdom of our parents, we now have it down to 2.

I can’t help but chuckle when I think of some of the houses we’ve seen, and am amazed at what estate agents will tell you to convince you that it’s the “perfect” house for you!

The one lady took us to a very nice house, open and sunny.  Only problem was, it had no kitchen.  Every last thing in the “kitchen” was stolen.  It was an empty room!  The bath was stolen out of one of the bathrooms and there where pipes lying everywhere.  On top of all the other work that needed to be done, they wanted a fortune for it.  She kept telling us what a lovely home it would be once it was fixed up a bit.  Ah ja, you’d have to spend an absolute fortune just making it livable, never mind nice!

Another house we saw had me in absolute utter shock.  The garden was perfect, the house was small, dark and cramped.  The rooms had no cupboards and the one bedroom came with a shower.  Yes, that’s right, a shower.  They only had the one bathroom which had a bath.  The guy wanted a shower and so they installed one in the corner of one of the bedrooms.  Need I say more?  Here, take the virtual tour of the second bedroom (wish I saw this before we went to see the place)  http://www.privateproperty.co.za/1_property_for_sale/2_Gauteng/69_Springs/781_casseldale_house_for_sale_J39616.htm

The last house that really stands out among the 25 - 30 houses we’ve seen happens to be a house one road up from where we currently staying.  It’s an old house with pressed ceilings so I hated it from the moment we entered the front door.  It’s owned by a lovely “old” couple who kept us there for way too long chatting away and showing us photos of their grandchildren.  The house smelt funny, but we did the polite thing in smiling and saying “what a nice place”.  The estate agent laughed and said “Wait until you see the pet that comes with the house!”  She said as if this pet was going to make us buy the house right there and then.  The way she said it, I was expecting to see a unicorn galloping around outside.  I looked through the lounge window and saw a farm like fence outside, one you’d see surrounding paddocks.  Maybe there was a unicorn running outside… We stepped outside and there was this huge, I mean enormous….. PIG.  ”She comes with the house and is completely house trained” said the owner.  A pig, seriously, a pig.  I don’t care that she’s house trained!  She’s so big she can hardly walk, never mind climb the stairs or fit through the door! I couldn’t help but laugh! And to think the estate agent thinks that’s going to help sell the house?!

I’ve realized over the past two weeks that there just is no such thing as finding the perfect house.  It’s finding a good house with potential, giving it your own special touch and making it a welcoming home that makes it perfect in the end.

It’s been really frustrating but it’s also been good fun.  Hopefully tomorrow will be a good day.  Who knows, maybe one of the last two remaining houses turns out to be our new home…

Surviving Your Husky: Lesson #1

Never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever put your rubbish bags where your Husky can get hold of it.  Trust me, it’ll only come back to bite you in the ass!

And yes they’ll distribute ALL of it all over your lawn but no, nothing and I repeat nothing of it will be left untouched.  You can be guaranteed that every little thing in the bag, including the bag, WILL be torn into the tiniest little microscopic pieces ever.

And the dog?  Ja, will look at you like they have no idea what happened.  Like “Me? I didn’t do it!  Must have been some ninja dog that scaled the wall and electric fence and did this.  Definitely not me”

So here it is.  Our Princess’s first tooth  :)

Today you can actually see it.  Not that clear on the photo but it’s there  :)  So cute!!!

Tatum’s 5 months old now and we decided yesterday to give her her first biscuit.  At first she didn’t know what to do with the weird object but the second she had it in her mouth she wouldn’t let go!  It was wonderful watching her expressions as she chomped away at the delicious treat & she clearly had a ball  :D

What did you call me?!

Teeth: Day “2”

So today is day 2 of teething hell.  Tae’s been teething for a while now but yesterday and today have by far been the worst.

Got excited yesterday afternoon when I saw the skin on her bottom gum was broken and was hoping for that to be a sign of an emerging tooth.  Had a look this morning and it’s healed and is as if it was never there yesterday  :(  She allowed me to have a look at her gums now and will admit that I’m far from being an expert on babies and even further away from being an expert on teeth, but, where I think her canines are supposed to come out are 4 big white bumps…….

Please tell me this is it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, so Tatum’s tummy has been extremely runny today (TMI but I don’t care right now) and she’s bringing up EVERYTHING she drinks.  She started screaming like crazy just now and whilst she was screaming I noticed that the skin on her gum is broken.  FYI, she won’t stop screaming now  :(

Someone please tell me that she’s about to get her first tooth.  And no I don’t want to hear that it’s going to take another month or so.  Please let these horrible things come out soon!!!

I feel so sorry for my baby  :’(

I’m leaving! And I’m taking my playgym with me!

On the 21st December 2009 it was tricky to hold our tiny little princess.  But now almost 5 months later it’s hard to believe she was once so tiny.  She’s definitely growing up WAY too fast!

Tae’s turn to type something

So I let Tatum smack my keyboard around every now and then but she really seems to be enjoying it now and sometimes lands up doing stuff on my pc I don’t even know how to do!  She even types for her Daddy in gtalk to make his day so I’ve decided to let her have some fun here  :)

Have no idea what she’s typed but with all this typing she managed to open Growing Gifts on Facebook…..   She’s so clever  :D
